1 week, 1 day

Maddilyn is one week old. It is amazing how fast the days go by AFTER you have the baby. The first week has been filed with doctor and hospital visits because of her jaundice.
Steve left Sunday morning to go back to Des Moines to take tests for a week. He had to miss out on the first week of her life, so sad. She has changed SO much.
(A pretty brain-squeezer on her head! Especially made for Papa Steve and Daddy.)
(Peace Out!)
(Hello!)
As you can see Maddi was very jaundice and has been my little glow worm (bili-blanket) for the past four days, but I'm happy to report that she is back to normal. I'm so happy that I can carry her from room to room without having her attached to a machine!

I can't believe how fast my kids are growing up. These last couple of weeks I have been amazed at the changes they have made. They are excited for the new baby and have made all sorts of cards and toys for her. On Sunday I tried to get my kids to hold still for a few pictures..........this is what I got!

Dressin' up in daddy's clothes to play superhero!
Do you think they are a little bit big?!?!

*SuMmeR*

This year summer has started off fast and furious. We are having lots of fun trying to keep busy before the baby comes. The pictures are in chronological order, bottom to top.
Cannon finished up his last game of soccer and was so excited to get a trophy. He carries it around everywhere and won't let his little sister touch it.
We started the boys in swimming lessons and they love it. The highlight so far has been jumping off the diving board.
Cannon is testing the sprinkler system to make sure everything in kosher.
With all of the hot weather, we broke out the pools and sprinklers to keep cool. They love to run around in the backyard and throw water on each other.
We took the YW and YM to Lake St. Claire for a evening on the beach. It was a lot of fun!
Cannon graduated kindergarten. The first in our home to graduate! Ha Ha ha!

{they heal fast}

Karlee had a check up this week and to our surprise the doctor decided to take off the cast. I was a little hesitant because she is not a dainty little girl. She loves to run, jump, dance, skip and wrestle. She has to keep up with the boys! So when the doctor told me he was going to take it off and let it heal the rest of the way on its own, I pictured the worst.
Her arm was still a little crooked where she broke it but she is happy to have it off.

It been almost three weeks since Karlee broke her arm. She learned really quick how to feed herself and get dressed with her left arm. I "thought" this broken arm would change her a bit, but it hasn't. I still catch her jumping on the beds, or off the couch and on a daily basis remind her to stay off the counter or table. She just has a personality that won't let a broken arm slow her down or get in the way.
We can't wait until she can get it off. Steve says she can throw some hard punches with that cast. (so does her brother) She has learned it is a great weapon when her dad and brother start tickling and teasing her! And she reminds them "but ya can't hit girls, Canni."

LUCKY????

NASTY, I know!
This is what happened to my baby about 18 hours before we left for Florida. Karlee and Cannon were both sitting on the table looking at pictures with Steve and I when Karlee placed her arm behind her to lean back and found out their was no more table behind her and she tumbled to the floor. At 8pm on Monday, we rushed Karlee to the hospital. The whole ride to the hospital she sat next to her dad as tough as can be. She didn't cry the entire time! She was so brave. I was more of a wreck then her. I just keep saying "why did this have to happen today?" We knew she broke both her radius and ulna but luckily is was a clean snap and wasn't displaced. By that I mean, the outer layer of the bone was still attached. She first started crying when the doctor gave her a shot for conscious sedation to set her arm back in place. It was really sad watching them reduce her arm but we knew she was in good care. We ended up getting home from the hospital about 1am and I stayed up packing for Florida in hopes that we would still be able to make our flight at 3pm. The next day we woke up bright and early and made a million phone calls trying to find an orthopedic that was willing to see her that day. Finally around 10am we had an appointment and to our surprise they now make waterproof casts. So we gladly paid the extra money to get a PINK waterproof cast. We were so grateful to the doctor who understood our situation and got her in immediately. In the end, we got Karlee put back together and made our flight out of Detroit. Now we are just playing in the rain having a great time in Disney World.

1st soccer game

Cannon started playing soccer this month. Yesterday was his first game. He was really nervous about it at first, but once he started playing he realized how fun it was.
Cannon had a great time and was excited about kicking in two goals for the team. It was really fun watching the kids play. Some of the kids on the team kicked a goal for the other team. It was pretty funny because they were happy to have kicked the ball. It didn't matter to them what direction it went!
